About CGMC Ipoh

Be Rooted in Christ and Be Transformed

Canning Garden Methodist Church (TRAC) is a church devoted to developing a holy consciousness. We believe that worship is something that can be expressed in everything we do, whether that be nourishing our bodies with food, chatting with friends, playing music, or enjoying nature. Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures, life’s only guidebook. Whatever your age, gender or race, there is a special place for you at our Church. We offer members a chance to become part of something greater, to grow their love for God and for one another in our beautiful community. Get in touch today or swing by for a visit.

Our Vision

Growing Deeper in Christ, Impacting and Transforming Lives.

A Christian person grows in depth as a disciple rooted in the life of Christ and is committed to the purpose of God’s Kingdom, and who, through a process of impacting and being impacted, produces the fruits of God’s transformation and a surrendered life to God by the Holy Spirit.

  • Person – a disciple who abides in Christ and, through time and intentionality, grows in the likeness of Christ. This principle of abiding in God deepens our conviction (worship), transforms our character
(walk) and strengthens our consecration (work) in God.

  • Purpose – embracing God’s Kingdom purpose as God’s Kingdom people in changing the world. As we deepen our life in Christ we take on His purpose and His will, and He will take charge of our lives and our ministry as God’s people and children with a destiny.

  • Process – an intentional effort and practice in disciple-making, of taking on and passing on, teaching and training in biblical principles and godly living. This impacting process (impacting and being impacted) takes place in preaching, teaching, small groups (like cell groups, mentoring groups) and a “life-on-life” or “person-to-person” individual basis (mentoring). Both are needed.

  • Product – the deepening growth of rootedness in Christ will result in the fruits of God’s transformation in our conviction, our character and our consecration. The rootedness we have in Christ produces the
surrendered life in readiness for Christ and His work. Our walk in the Lord precedes our work for the Lord. Likewise our walk in the Lord determines our work for the Lord.

Our Statement of Faith

“We are a connectional Methodist church based on faith in God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit – three in One God or the Holy Trinity.
Our intention is spreading scriptural holiness which entails more than personal holiness. We believe the love of God is always linked with love of neighbor, passion for justice and renewal in the life of the world.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit we engage in vibrant worship as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Through nurturing programs for holistic growth, our members may become mature in Christ and be actively involved in serving God in the world.”

Our Mission Statement

To DISCIPLE every member into Christian maturity and to be effective in the service of God.

To EVANGELIZE the city of Ipoh and to set up congregations in strategic areas.

To TOUCH a needy community with God’s transforming love and justice.

To SEND Christian workers into the harvest fields and to be involved in missions.
